According to the data from Jinshi, on February 2nd, after more than 7 months of negotiations, the five major parties in Belgium reached a protocol agreement on the evening of January 31st, local time, agreeing to form a new government led by the chairman of the New Flemish Alliance party, De Wever. De Wever submitted a detailed report on the protocol to King Philip of Belgium on the same day. The protocol still needs to be formally approved by the five parties. In the Belgian federal parliamentary elections held in June last year, the five parties collectively won 81 seats out of 150 seats in the House of Representatives, with the New Flemish Alliance party led by De Wever winning 24 seats and maintaining the position of the largest party in the federal parliament. De Wever was subsequently appointed as the coordinator of the cabinet formation and held consultations with other major parties. However, due to serious differences in policy positions, the cabinet formation negotiations repeatedly failed.
