Report: Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund's investment income in 2024 is about HK$102.4 billion

On January 6th, Jijin Rating, an independent MPF research institution, released data showing that the Hong Kong MPF recorded a positive return of about 8.82% for the whole year of 2024, the best annual performance since 2020. In terms of amount, the MPF’s investment income for the whole year is about 102.4 billion Hong Kong dollars, or an average of about 21,500 Hong Kong dollars per member for 4.75 million MPF members. Including contributions in December, Jijin Rating expects the total assets of the MPF to reach about 1.29 trillion Hong Kong dollars, the fourth highest total asset value since the launch of the MPF, equivalent to an average account balance of about 271,500 Hong Kong dollars per member.
