Abstract generation in progress

On October 29, Jin10 reported that the U.S. government shutdown, which has lasted for nearly a month, seems to be finally starting to shift. The impending key deadlines, coupled with external pressures, are adding new urgency to the bipartisan discussions that have been stalled for weeks. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, along with his Senate allies, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and other House Republican leaders, appear increasingly convinced that more centrist Democrats are ready to compromise on a temporary funding bill to mitigate the impacts of the shutdown, possibly as soon as early next week. Republican leaders are discussing a new temporary funding bill, with dozens of proposals currently on the table, including options to fund the government temporarily until around January 21 or even as late as March.
