Multiple doctors submitted a friend of the court brief, stating that SBF's neurodiversity led to being 'misunderstood' in the trial.
Odaily Planet Daily News 8 doctors specializing in the field of neural differentiation recently told the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in a friend-of-the-court brief supporting SBF that SBF has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which “poses a serious challenge during the litigation process in this case,” and the court and jury may have misunderstood SBF’s behavior during the criminal trial. They said that several rulings were unfavorable to SBF, “because of his neurodifferentiation,” especially the ruling of the Manhattan court, which allows government prosecutors to question him without a jury present before he sits in front of a jury. The ruling has ‘potentially far-reaching implications’ because ‘the judge repeatedly criticized SBF’s lengthy responses and attempts to clarify or rephrase questions’ — doctors say this is characteristic of patients with autism spectrum disorders, as they understand language literally. They also said that the judge’s criticism later led to SBF changing his answers in front of the jury, ‘possibly overcorrecting’. (Cointelegraph)
