After the approval of the Bitcoin Law, El Salvador became the Latin American country with the most bitcoin (BTC) ATMs. A leadership that has not been lost so far, but is facing increasing competition.
According to the data provided by the CoinATMRadar monitoring and tracking service, only two countries in the region are close to El Salvador in the installation of bitcoin ATMs: Puerto Rico and Mexico. Among them, Mexico stands out for being one of the countries that has made the most progress in adoption.
The figures indicate that, to date, the number of ATMs in Mexico is estimated at around 80 machines. A quantity that may continue to increase and represents a growth of more than 200% in just a year and a half. It is thus leaving behind the time when the North American country had few bitcoin ATMs, now becoming one of the leaders in the installation of these machines.
These ATMs provide users with a safe and accessible way to buy and sell bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which encourages more people to participate in this constantly evolving financial ecosystem. Mexico City leads the list of areas with the most machines, with 48 ATMs. This is not surprising as it is the financial and technological hub of the country, known for its large economy and population. The capital city is followed closely by other important cities such as Monterrey, Querétaro, and Guadalajara, along with the popular tourist areas of Tulum and Playa del Carmen in the Mexican Caribbean.
