Federals issue alert: new million-dollar cyberattack
On October 23, 2025, authorities uncovered a digital attack that has left $2 billion Americans without funds. The FBI is on fire. Letitia James, the Attorney General, is urging New Yorkers to keep their eyes wide open to this three-act scam.
They call him "Ghost Hacker". He targets the big fish, especially. It seems that last year they took $6.2 billion from them. A 27% increase compared to 2024. What a rise.
It's not the typical tech support scam. These guys are something else. They impersonate everything: technicians, bankers, even officials. All to gain trust and empty accounts.
The "Ghost Hacker" attacks like this:
1. They send you an urgent message. You have to call now.
2. They convince you to install something. Bingo, they are already inside your computer.
3. They tell you to check your accounts. They look secretly.
Then, surprise: your bank calls. You need to move the money to a "safe" account. Spoiler: it's the scammer's.
Watch out for the numbers that appear out of nowhere on your phone. Don't even think about calling. James says that if you don't call, there is no attack. It's that simple.
Do you want to check your accounts? Do it as always. Or call the bank yourself. Don't use AI for this, for goodness' sake.
This new scam is going for everything: banks, ETFs, whatever it is. You need to stay alert. Follow the advice and protect your money.
