The Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore has put Meta on the ropes 🚨. They demand that it improve security on Facebook against scams. If not, a fine of up to 1 million Singapore dollars 💰.

At the Global Anti-Scam Asia 2025 summit, Minister Goh Pei Ming spoke. Facebook: the favorite platform of scammers 🦹. Impersonation scams skyrocketed in 2025. Nearly tripled. 1,762 cases 📈. Losses soared: 126.5 million Singapore dollars 💸.

Facebook does not come out well. More than a third of e-commerce scams occurred there 🛒. Its Marketplace is the worst rated in scam protection 🔍.

Meta claims to have security measures. Equipment to detect scams 🛡️. But something doesn't add up. It seems that Meta's apps fuel the online fraud economy 🌐.

Internal data from Meta. Surprising: 70% of new advertisers linked to scams or bad products 🚩. Scammers could accumulate 32 "strikes" before the ban 🎯.

All this leaves a bitter taste. Social media and its role in scams... A thorny subject 🤔. Can Meta turn the tide? Who knows 🔮.
