Analyst agency: Generative AI is overhyped, and related industries are expected to "cool" in 2024
Analyst firm CCS Insight today predicted that the generative AI space could face a reality check next year. It believes that as "the hype around AI technology itself gradually fades", "the cost of running AI continues to rise" and calls for "regulation of AI" increase, the AI industry may cool in the future, and technological development gradually shows signs of slowing down.
CCS Insight's main prediction for 2024 is that generative AI will be "doused with cold water" in 2024, as the costs, risks associated with AI technology will "replace the hype around the technology." Ben Wood, principal analyst at CCS Insight, said: "Everyone is talking about generative AI right now, including Google, Amazon, Qualcomm and Meta. We are very supportive of AI, we think it will have a huge impact on the economy, we think it will have a significant impact on society as a whole, we think it is good for productivity. But the hype around generative AI this year 2023 is simply so great that we think AI is overhyped and the technology needs to overcome many hurdles to bring it to market. ”
