Assets evaporate $20 billion! Satoshi Nakamoto's BTC holdings significantly shrink due to recent market pullback

As the cryptocurrency market experienced a substantial pullback this month, even the most mysterious Bitcoin holder (Bitcoin's creator Satoshi Nakamoto) was not spared. Data shows that the value of their Bitcoin assets has decreased markedly during this market correction.

According to Arkham Intelligence, during this month's market pullback, Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin holdings' total value dropped from $137 billion to $117 billion, a loss of $20 billion in a single day.

These holdings, believed to be controlled by Satoshi Nakamoto, are distributed across thousands of independent wallet addresses, totaling nearly 1.1 million BTC, accounting for over 5% of the current total supply of Bitcoin.

Notably, despite multiple market cycles, these wallets have never recorded any transfers over the past 15 years, with all Bitcoin remaining stationary.

Satoshi Nakamoto's holdings make them the largest individual holder of Bitcoin. In comparison, the second-largest holder, MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor, owns 640,808 BTC, about 3% of the total supply, roughly half the size of Satoshi Nakamoto's holdings.

On-chain analysts point out that including Satoshi Nakamoto's holdings, an estimated 3 to 4 million BTC have been permanently lost due to private key loss and other reasons, representing approximately 14% to 19% of the total Bitcoin supply. This permanent scarcity further intensifies Bitcoin's deflationary characteristics.

Market observers emphasize that if Satoshi Nakamoto were to suddenly return and begin transferring their Bitcoin, it would cause a huge market shock. However, based on the past 15 years of holding patterns, most analysts believe the likelihood of this happening is extremely low.

In summary, although these dormant Bitcoins hang like a Damocles sword over the crypto market, their long-term stationary state forms the most solid foundation for Bitcoin's value. This also indicates that true trust often does not need to be proven through transactions.
