Putin approves the list of negotiators, the prospects for Russia-Ukraine talks are uncertain.
Jin10 data reported on May 15, the day before the Russia-Ukraine negotiations scheduled in Istanbul, Turkey, Russian President Putin signed an order regarding the composition of the Russian negotiating delegation with Ukraine, appointing Presidential Assistant Mezhinsky as the head of the delegation. Analysts believe that on key issues such as Ukraine’s “demilitarization,” whether Ukraine will abandon its NATO membership, and territorial vesting, the differences between Russia and Ukraine remain difficult to reconcile, with both sides unwilling to make concessions, making the prospects for this meeting uncertain. Alexander Baunov, a senior researcher at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in the United States, believes that while Russia proposed negotiations, it did not agree to a ceasefire, aiming to maintain pressure on Ukraine by the Russian military on the battlefield, facilitating discussions.
